I am a fat woman, with the fat in all the ‘wrong’ places. So, you can probably guess the lot of hurtful comments I’ve received from friends and strangers. One of my closest friends once called me unattractive, rest assured we aren't friends anymore.
What I’m trying to say is, if you don't fit into society's idea of beautiful, - flat stomach, thick ass, perky boobs- then you are going to get a lot of grief. The funny part is only about 2% of people fit society's standards and even that 2% a large number of them used surgery or use make up or tricks. The only thing that these unattainable standards breed is hate for self and hate for others. That is why we have a lot of hateful people in the world.
Lots of people who are hurting direct this hurt at others with jibs and insults. And for a long time, I was one of the hurt people. I made snide comments about people's bodies, never to their face of course, but yes, I did it.
The turning point for me was when I joined Instagram and discovered a host of body positivity influencers. They have helped me to heal the hurt. And to start my journey to self-love and body acceptance.
Which is why I am starting the 30 days to body acceptance Challenge this February. To help you heal the hurt and learn to Love your body.
