I feel like this a lot like maybe I'm lieing to myself or just trying to be woke by choosing to be a feminist but I still continue anywayyyy.

Self doubt is human nature. I like to think that regardless of likes or subscribers, sharing our thoughts, stories, research, etc sows seeds and sparks thought and more ideas, which can lead to change. We can’t always know how much of an impact we have, but as long as we are trying, we are doing.

This is a wonderful perspective. I also find it strange how those who are acting against systems of oppression have to constantly monitor ourselves but the oppressors get to be hypocrites, maniacal and have the liberty of multiplicities even when it’s nonsensical. I think acknowledging your humanness is still breaking the binary because how could we be perfect activists when we have to interact everyday with designs that make us betray our values (slowly or largely) in order to survive?

But the way you wrote this… it reminded me that perfectionism is just patriarchy with a makeover. That even activism can become another productivity trap, another way to measure our worth in output and optics.

But you’re right: maybe the real work is continuing anyway. Starting the project. Writing the messy thing. Showing up not polished, but real.

Thank you for putting this into words. It made space for me to exhale.

The perfect feminism you were initially describing sounded exactly like what one would read online either by white feminist or radical ones who are very anti-trans. There have been wonderful intersectional feminist blogs and websites talking about this. I am glad you found that it is good to be "imperfect" feminist. Sending you love and support ❤️
