You're putting your finger on something a lot of people pretend not to see; how so many "progressive" Nigerian men fight every system of oppression except the one that benefits them ~ patriarchy.

Like, these men will be on the frontlines chanting "No justice, no peace!" but the moment you bring up how women are treated, they start glitching like spoilt earpiece. What annoys me the most is the women who say but it’s "not all men," or "let’s not derail the conversation." And its also insane that when a woman even speaks up about this like the Xys did to "End SARS" they’re often gaslit, mocked, or silenced. Meanwhile, an Xy says one cute thing about women’s rights and the girlies will throw him a Nobel Peace Prize. Girl stand tf up.

“If sex sells, if violence against women sells, if disrespecting women sells, can we say that it is we the listeners who are at fault for creating an enabling environment for these male artists? “ I hate it so much when people try to separate the art from the artist and very often they only have this level of sympathy for male artists, you should never be comfortable buying art ( listening to music)from artists that don’t align with your views and very often they let their misogyny bleed through their music , if you listen to their music, you buy their art . This just means you fund their bigotry / lifestyle, you are partly responsible for their rubbish
